About Me

Hi, there!

My name is Kimberly Vargas Agnese (though I previously wrote as Kae Bucher). A second-generation Mexican American, I am the daughter of a field worker. As a poet, I advocate with my people and frequently address social justice issues. My poetry also tends to be “richly textured with natural imagery” (my agent’s words– not mine), which makes a lot of sense because I feel safest when I’m outdoors. In fact, I devote a lot of time to landscaping and cultivating Meadow Arc, the young food forest that doubles as my backyard (and should extend to the sides and front sometime in the foreseeable future). Meadow Arc is home to ten fruit trees and an assortment of vegetables and herbs, as well as a safe haven for doves, chats, hummingbirds, squirrels, toads, pollinators, garter snakes and the occasional possum.

Thanks for visiting my online portfolio!
